background music for pathworkings or tranceKrst Pod Triglavom/Baptism - Laiabch's soundtrack for an NSK performance. Though there are lyrics, they tend not to get in the way once you've listened to it a few times (then again, the dissonance might be helpful in some circumstances). Very Wagner, yet very Laibach (not sure if that's a selling point or not....). The performance and the music were about a battle between the Germans and Pagan Slavs re: conversion to Christianity and the music does reflect this (though more from the German side). Like most Laibach, as much as you might like it, almost guaranteed that your neighbors will hate it. Dark Ambient Podcast: feed://www.podshow.com/feeds/darkambient.xml (or through iTunes) Is kinda your typical overlapping whooshies, but can be very soothing if you're in that sort of mood. Despite being "dark" I found it rather bright. Ultima Thule: http://www.ultimathule.info/playlists.html While it's very definitely skewed towards the subdued side and mixed pretty well, there are a lot of songs that go into these podcasts and sometimes they what happens later on might not be what you expect, so definitely listen to it first, or keep is soft if you just need background music. I lost my old Mortiis CDs (Født til å Herske, Stargate and Crypt of the Wizard), but if you ever need something appropriate for an 80s barbarian movie dungeon, here you go. Født til å Herske was actually pretty good, although there are a couple bits where things didn't quantize correctly (not sure if that's the proper musical term) and things go from smooth to jarring - unilke Laibach, I doubt it was intentional here.

For tibetan bells, give this guy a try - I've had music of his for years; used to run into him at the Tibet Shop in S.F. - he was always at the festivals too: http://karmamoffett.com/
Robert Rich is another very reliable resource - my favorite for pathworking is "Calling Down The Sky"
Brian Eno's "Discreet Music" is very nice.
There's stuff out there by Arktau Eos and Halo Manash that I like too, but they are more specific, and sometimes the individual pieces aren't long enough (sometimes the merge, and my software can blend them seamlessly) but I usually target them specifically according to the nature of the pathworking I'm doing. Blue Mars has some nice stuff, but it just doesn't get me these days. Some Ragas work nicely, especially on the Sarangi or Veena.
I usually record the pathworking or whatever I'm doing (adding a powerful trance induction method in the beginning - I can get into a pretty deep state in a matter of seconds this way) and mix it with the music on Wavepad - then use the mp3 player when other people are in the house, or speakers when I'm alone - I get much better states with speakers. I've been using this method for sigil/servitor launch and various trainings - it is just excellent!
Music And Just Intonation
I would agree on Philosomatika.
The Chemical Brothers. . .
Digitalism
Pure Reason Revolution***
Alot of my psychedelic music is eclectic in variety/tempo/level of "core" (hard or soft) in terms of reaching trance states. I triple-starred P.R.R. because their music in induced altered states is amazing for pathworking and rewiring. . . I'm talking holy crap unexplainable experiences amazing. Put it on Itunes, turn on visualizer, and go at it. I've also worked some magicks to PRR in the induced state. . . so just a suggestion I guess =]
Not exactly Music, but there is an innate vibrational rewiring concept in:
Just Intonation - This is The Shiz fo Sho
Equal Temperament is what we recognize in music, it is the standard tuning which is tuned to equal steps but every tone is equally out of tune. In Equal Temperament, the natural harmonies are changed so that every tone is equal in measure. Just Intonation allows for notes to cross over one another but it restricts the range of musical effectiveness and the chords you play. The frequencies are based on natural frequencies found within the natural world. Because everyday music is generally tuned to Equal Temperament, we believe that the way we tune a note is arbritary. However, there are specific resonances in Just Intonation which play on specific perceptive and behavioral synapses in the brain.
The use of just intonation is what makes these frequencies so resonant. When using the common tuning of equal temperament, each notes relation to one another by frequencies is compromised in order to extend the range of musical tonality and give the ability to transpose pieces of music to different musicals keys. The fact that in just intonation the notes and chords are restricted to a smaller range is the only draw back to it, but in using the frequencies for purposes of meditation, this drawback is irrelevant.
Specific frequencies that I created are located on my blog, but I'm not a spammer so if anyone wants the frequencies let me know. =]
Re: background music for pathworkings or trance
I have found that Type O Negative's Black NO. 1 is quite Syncro(Nasty) when performing the Mass of Chaos B. Ministry works well for Red workings. Nine Inch Nails songs have a lot of potential for love spells. "Promise carved in stone, deeper then the sea, devils flesh and bone, and offer it to me." I used this lyric as a spell a long time ago, but destroyed it because it was to freakin reliable. Bonding Cupid to an enchanted ring will have that effect though. I use a lot of trance when I meditate. Albums which are suppost to be tranquil bother me for some reason. Everytime I go into a pagan book store I want to rip my hair out and throw some CombiChrist or Nails in the cd player, lol.

I kinda like some of the Gothic instrumental stuff like Midnight Sympathy
Plus Garage Band has some killer loops to help with this.
I would love to get just a recording of Tibetian signing bells for pathworkings, they always relaxed me.
Re: background music for pathworkings or trance
philosomatika is one of my favorites too.
but i also like the streams by http://www.somafm.com - even the indierock stream is very effective for me - it's like there's a telepathic link between my recreational sigilisation work and their playlist.
every now and then when i perceive some obvious astral inputs i put on "The Planets" by Gustav Holst to open up a channel for a more direct transmission.
when it comes to reflect deeper unutterable stuff Venetian Snares often did a good job.
in my special case music is an essential element for visualization and gaining a liminal state of mind.
Anyone here familiar with the concept of the Songlines by the Aborigines?
Re: background music for pathworkings or trance
There are various streaming music sites that you can find out shoutcast.
One of my favorite sites is http://www.philosomatika.com
I don't feel that music is essential to pathworkings, however.
