Fet Ghede and Marriage Celebration in Adrian MI

Event Date:
Saturday, 31 October 2009 - 10:00am - Sunday, 1 November 2009 - 2:00am

We are pleased to invite you to a celebration of Samhain on October 31st, at the Old Masonic Temple in Adrian, Michigan.

At 1:00pm, Crossroads Tabernacle Church is presenting an Egyptian Descent into the Underworld. As the boundaries between the worlds draw thin, Crossroads Tabernacle Church invites you to join with us as we descend to Am-Tuat, the Egyptian land of the dead. This is an open ritual, and all are welcome to
attend. Both ritual garb and street clothes are welcome, with comfort being the priority.

Following the Crossroads ritual will be a teacup drawing to benefit the Catherine Cobb Domestic Violence Shelter. For those of you who remember last year, we adopted a family and turned things around for them in a big way.

From that was born The Fairy Godmother Fund. The Fairy Godmother Fund is working again this year with Catherine Cobb to decide where our help is most needed. Before Samhain, we'll have a wish-list available for any who can help. Please bring donations of food or personal care items to earn tickets for the drawing.

At 4:00pm, you are invited to the wedding of Shadowdragon and Sapphire, the High Priest and High Priestess of the Order of Avalon, the governing body of HLC Witches. After four
and a half years together, they are making it legal with a ritual based in their own Tradition of the Old Code. They look forward to being united surrounded by the love of family and friends.

Houngan Tom, aka Andrieh Vitimus, will be our ritual master for a Fet Gede following the wedding. This is a Vodou ritual interacting with the Baron, Maman Brigitte, and the Ancestors. The Fet Gede is a celebration including feasting, laughter, and dancing. At 6:00pm, the city of Adrian closes off the main streets downtown to allow for trick-or-treating. We invite you to bring your children and allow them to trick-or-treat here or, if you are past the age of begging for candy, bring some
of your own. You are welcome to hand out candy outside the Temple. There will also likely be a "wandering" where Fet Gede participants will take to the streets in merriment and fun.
The Fet Gede will continue on into the evening. Children are welcome until 9:30pm when we ask that the Fet Gede itself be for adults only. We will have movies in another room but we cannot provide sitters for this event.

Preceding the first ritual, Houngan Tom will hold a booksigning for his best-selling book Hands on Chaos Magic. This will be at 10:00am. At 11:00am, Houngan Tom will conduct a workshop on Worshipping with the Ancestors. This will be a great workshop
for those planning on attending the Fet Gede later in the evening.

For the feast, thanks to the generosity of my parents, we will have a hog roast. We ask that everyone please bring a bountiful passing dish and food prepared without salt for the altars. (Spicy is good for the altar. The more spicy, the
more better.) Please also be conscious of your choice of bread. Bread for the altar may contain no seeds (ie poppy, sesame, caraway, etc). Not even on the top. We will also provide coffee, tea, and water. Adult beverages are permitted during the Fet Gede in designated areas. There will be much music and
dancing, so wear or bring comfy clothes and shoes.

The address of the Old Masonic Temple is 160 East Maumee, Adrian, MI, 49221. We will be in the newly reopened dining hall. Accessing Inner Wisdom, the store inside the Temple, will be open until at least 6:00pm.
