That all makes perfect sense Solstice. I guess I have just always avoided the energy model due to Carroll's chapter on Auric Magic in Liber Kaos. Long ago when I was a young lad, I used the energy model more frequently for healing, glamour, etc... Now, I typically only use it for one specific ritual which makes use of balls of energy passed between the hands of two people to induce empathy and telepathy. It is a very reliable working. I guess I should have taken Hine's advise and not relied to closely on one individuals material or advice. I will check out the links you sent. Thank you so much for the over view. I have an evocation project with another magician that I think I will try this out on. I plan on posting the rituals for this project but need to meet with the other guy to refine them a little bit.

I find the energy model very practical for healing- whether that be my own healing or working on others. I also find it very practical for stress relief ;) Reiki is just one facet of the energy spectrum. Being a slacker and not having coffee yet this morning, I'm going to cut/paste and offer a link for reading. "The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy." http://www.reiki.org/faq/WhatIsReiki.html Regarding your ability to raise energy- sure, it has something to do with reiki- but that in and of itself is not reiki per se. Reiki generally requires attunements (not always, but generally) and it is "higher power" directed (although I'd wager that one could debate at length whether that 'higher power' were internal or external ;) ).

What you describe sounds more like self-directed energy raising/manipulation, but it doesn't sound from your description that you're talking about focusing or working intentionally on that direction... With what you describe yourself as doing, I'd say that there would likely be a number of practical applications if you worked with intention of focus and direction of that ability. Generating energy has numerous practical applications from energy healing to empathic manipulation to evocation to, well, you name it 8-) Given some of the posts that you've written, though, I'd presume you to be familiar with a number of these practical applications, even if you may not associate it cognitively as the same thing, as this energy model applies to many of the facets of some of the things you're already doing- such as the tracing of symbols or the gnostic pentagram (mundane hand gestures and a few vocalizations alone don't really do much in and of themselves, do they? Gotta put that energy/intention behind it- right? ;) ) Essentially I'd call that energy raising (or using intent to carry the energy) a foundational building block for some of the more complex practices that you're already describing in your posts here, if that makes sense?

I have no previous experience with Reiki and I would like an over view if possible. I do not use the energy model much but have always had the ability to raise a force with my hands that other people can feel. Does this ability have anything to do with this? I never found a pratical use for this ability. Does one exist?
