The invocation of Hecate

This ritual should be performed outside if possible and a large fire should be lit. Hecate was worshipped by both the Greeks and the Romans who had their own festivals dedicated to her. The Greeks observed two days sacred to Hecate, one on the 13th of August and one on the 30th of November, whilst the Romans observed the 29th of every month as her sacred day. I have invoked her on Halloween with excellent results. Hecate is the queen of the witches and also the queen of the dead. After the Third invocation, the gnosis generated during the rite can be used to empower sigils or works of evocation. The night prior to the ritual, an offering of meat should be left at a three way cross road fore she is also the goddess of the cross roads. This sacrifice will also ensure safe travel when venturing in the wilderness for this sacrifice was made in order to ensure safe travel during the sixth and seventh century when Hecate was most popular.

The Hecate Ritual

• Statement of intent

• Banishing ritual

• Statement of intent (We will to invoke Hecate for magical inspiration and power)

• 30 minutes of sound concentration/asana/pranayama (Use the name Hecate as a mantra)

• Light candles and present offerings i.e. meat, mint, thyme, garlic, and almonds (All of these things are associated with Hecate)

• first invocation

• Return to a comfortable position, begin asana and pranayama and visualize three faced goddess Hecate while chanting her name until gnosis is achieved. Dance around the fire if desired as a vehicle of excitatory gnosis instead of returning to asana and pranayama.

• Second invocation

• Throw offering of meat, mint, thyme, garlic, and almonds on the fire

• third invocation

• Banishing ritual

Invocation one

“We will to invoke the goddess of the moon, the supreme governess of the borders between the normal world and the spirit world. We will to invoke the tender hearted goddess, the bitch, the goddess of the wilderness and untamed places. We invoke the goddess with the torch, key, and serpent. We will to wander through the labyrinth of knowledge.”

Second invocation

We will to invoke the life producing bosom of Hecate, the living flame which clothes itself in matter to manifest existence. We will to invoke the queen of the witches, the goddess of the dead.

Third invocation

So come to us Hecate, come and lend us your magic, give us your insight. Bring us through the maze of knowledge, allow us to experience the living flame wrapped in matter.

Haha, oops... consider the post above written by chaodiscordia. I am on Anomolys computer, forgot he was the one that is logged in.

Re: The invocation of Hecate

After Anomoly and I working with Hekate we have both had some unique results symbolic to the goddess. Anomoly fiance was looking to get a job at "Jakes Crossroads". We have both expieranced a lot of manifistations in three. Last week I was on my way to Anomolys and I thought of Hekate in passing, then looked to my right and saw a woman walking three dogs. For the last week I have had a draem about her almost every night, the dream is always the same, it is her, in dark form charging my sigil for power and inspiration at my alter. As for results based on our SOI, I have had a great deal of inspiration towards magic and my creativity has expanded. I have also noticed better results with the telapthy sigil Anomoly and I created after our work with Hekate. Along with the sigil work I have noticed myself becoming increasingly prone to divination. I had a dream about me falling down a blue spiral that represented my job. Two days later I had an incident at work looking negative on me. I have had multiple instances of knowing someone was going to be somewhere before I got there. Last night as I was almost to Anomolys I knew something abut a sheep would come up when I came in, there was a goat in a commercial on the tv. The results have been abundant so its hard to list all of them, but I know the Hekate work has been then source.

Re: The invocation of Hecate

Well, we have done a few adaptations of this ritual in the last few weeks all with unique results. So far, the performance using the energy model has produced my favorite result. Not so much an enchantment type result, rather a metamorphosis/illumination type result coupled with atmospheric changes during the ritual. The illumination/metamorphosis result happened after the initial change in atmospheric preasure and an immediate presence which was felt as a shift in the preasure of the room, almost like gravity became more dense. Then I was taken over by an ecstacy, my entire body was vibrating and i was completely devoid of conscious deliberation or even the usual tendencies which lead to conscious deliberation. In retrospect, I should have followed the original outline and used the gnosis generated by the rite to charge a bunch of sigils.

I did this ritual last holloweed but with a shamanic/astral twist added in and had a 100% success rate with the 5 or 6 sigils I cast. The metamorphosis/illumination results which manifested resulted in a restored confidence that I had magick as an advantage over the world, sort of like a restored confidence in the fact that my magick would not fail when I needed it to. I have always experienced an advanced success rate but for some reason before the ritual I was doubting my normal tendencies toward balanced desire and my mind split in a few different directions.

This ritual was originally written as an invocation which was directed toward results based enchantment and an increase in inspiration and power. But since I have developed a relationship with hecate, i have started to view the ritual differently which is completely natural considering every ritual I have ever written.

I highly recommend this diety for any practicing magician, she is a good chick to have in your corner. When I get around to it, I plan to write an aeonic littany similar to that of Baphomet due to the speculation concerning the "true" purpose of hecate. As a chaos magician I find this silly and abstract just as I am sure most of you would with some of your patron gods and goddesses. Once a relationship is built with a diety, both the diety and the self tends to evolve as they become bound. One to the idealized vision of the god/goddess and then the other to suit the idiosyncratic nature of the practitioner.

Its a silly world we live in. To bad solipsism is not a valid argument against the world. I guess we will all just have to develop personalities/dieties to make up for it.

I stabbed someone in the throat last night in a dream, I sure hope the dream police dont catch wind of it. I wonder at the advancements which could be made with telepathy using lucid dreaming. I guess it is all about interpretation.

Re: The invocation of Hecate

Any yummy results after this meaty business?

Re: The invocation of Hecate

This is the invocation I wrote and performed last night.

Tools: (Picture of a path with a gate, Strophalos of Hekate, Y shaped crossroads, Sigil with words Magic, Inspiration, Power and Hekate Incorporated into it. Hematite, Black Onyx, Dagger (that severs the umbilical cord at birth and us from our bodies at death) Two Candles representing the torches, a key, and a pentagram for inspiration and power.

With these tools I set up an altar to Hekate accordingly. My sigil was painted on a plate and placed in a plate holder to stand upright. Before it a larger plate with a Y and a small plate on top of it with the Strophalos of Hekate were placed. IO Hekate was painted three times around the brim of the larger plate. On either side of the plates I placed the rest of the symbolic tools. Above the alter hung an old picture of a path in the middle of the woods leading to a wooden face with a gate.

Offerings: Incense (Patchouli and Sandalwood, 3 cones)
Meat (sausage links, 3 pieces)

Invocation of Hekate

GPR done with Dagger

SOI: It is my will for Hekate to weave magical power and inspiration into my life’s’ path. (Offerings of lit incense and meat are held aloft) (Sigil is visualized on the picture of the path with image of Hekate)

Sound/Image Concentration: Visualize the sigil on the path with Hekate while chanting IO Hekate. (About 5-10 minutes)

Invocation:

IO Hekate Patron of Magicians, Goddess of the crossroads, Maiden, Mother, and Crone!
I hear thee hounds! Howls in the night! I see thee Torches! Unconscious light!
Hekate! Goddess of Magic! Lift this veil so the secrets of enchantment may be seen!
IO Hekate, come into me!
Hekate! Goddess of the crossroads, show me the path to good luck on earth, give me the key!
IO Hekate! Come into me!
Hekate! Triple Goddess, fill me with passion, power and wisdom, and let my spirit free!
IO Hekate! Come into me!

IO Hekate come into me! I invoke thee!
IO Hekate come into me! I invoke thee!
IO Hekate come into me! I invoke thee!

Hekate does whatever it is Hekate does:

When Hekate leaves visualize yourself turning into a stone statue of her. At this time silence your mind and still your body:

Thank Hekate for her presence and blessings:

Take meat to the crossroads:

Notes:

As I was about half way through the GPR I had already begun to feel her presence, it was dark, and at first brought about a little fear in me. As the ritual continued I embraced the darkness. The SOI was given and the sigil visualized on the path, I continued on with sound/image concentration for about 5 - 10 minutes. I Recited my invocation of Hekate and at the end I held my talisman with both hands and chanted “IO Hekate, Come into me! I invoke thee! Hekate then came into me and my body trembled with her presence, the energy was immense and as I looked forward her two other faces came around and looked at the third, she was a dark goddess with a cunning smirk, a serpent slithered across my body and two arms separate from mine brought torches in front of me and the torches then crossed together at my hands blessing the talisman. When the torches came together they shined an extremely bright white light and I could feel the energy resonate from it. After the talisman was charged I thanked her and as she departed I turned to a stone statue image of her, stilling my body and silencing my mind. During the ritual I recall hearing the faint howls of hounds. I then went to the crossroads and left the offering of meat and gave thanks to Hekate, from there I walked to my mailbox to check the mail, by the park mailboxes was a newspaper stand with a buyers guide called “The Crossroads” I laughed a bit and consider that to be a banishing well fit.

I put this ritual together after working with Anomaly. I plan on working with this Goddess in times to come and to utilize her alter to its fullest capacity. I don’t expect anyone to use the tools or set up an altar as I did, but hope the ritual can at least help inspire some to create their own.
