Oil Spill and Your 'Crisis Magic'- Right Now. Part 1

Back in Febuary, I gave a talk at Convocation on 'Crisis Magic' and how to survive the worst case scenario. I hate to be a nay-sayer but to quote Zombieland, "fasten your seat belts it's going to be a bumpy ride."  This oil spill is probably far worse in its implications then people can even get a sense of.  This is not a "boo-hoo" post, this is what I believe as metaphysicians, shamans, witches, and other people tapped in we probably need to do to survive.  Consider this your warning from someone who often delivers messages, and take it for what it's worth.  People know I have psychic ability, but on this scale  predicting anything is difficult.  That said, those people out there praying for a new Aeon- well, you might be seeing it right here.  I will give my rational two cents and then offer strategies for preparing or handling the potential worst case scenario here.  Yes you can employ the techniques in Hands On Chaos Magic and actually implement what I am talking about, even in the worst of crises.

There are several linear and non-linear reasons why I say this is far worse than people are admitting.

Let's start with the 'unverified personal gnosis' (aka: Divination and Magic)

First off, before 9/11 and some other events, I went through a period of psychic disturbance where I had to use mental control to really get a handle on it.  At the time of the event, it was like I connected the "psychic ripple" back in time to the source and it all made sense.  This is one of the problems with kinesthestic psychic perception. I tend to not be very mystical at all about this, taking first the "it's just me" approach

9/11 was not as bad as what I'm feeling now regarding the psychic turmoil surrounding the oil spill.  Granted, you can say that bad things have happened to me lately. However, I have seen some correlations between the psychic ripples and that happening.  Also, I asked for new life, so I let those destructive energies into my life and have to roll with the punches to get that new life. In this case, however,  every time, I tried to think about the oil spill or even read about it lately, shadows would flicker around my apartment.  Of course, the skeptic says "So what, it's just coincidence."  Yes, yes it is.  But coincidences can matter.  This is coupled with multiple apocalyptic dreams in which some of the various spirits I work with (even though I am on a "spiritual vacation" so to speak) came through.   In some cases, as is typical with the spirits I work with, the dreams were light hearted- in that the spirits were jovial, and in a nice way making fun of some of my students as being a bit too twitchy.  But when you look at the situations and what they were twitchy about, damn- they should have been twitchy because in the dreams, the situation was almost always extremely grave and mostly involved black tentacle type things that involved closing gateways.   Sound familiar yet or do you make any correspondences to say, I don't know, maybe an oil spill? The message was the same there, you'll be ok... Move further north, and people better be able to work together (not just people, more like tribe).  The notion of the tribe, though, is radically shifting for most people.  In a lot of ways, this is a perfect storm.

Now, there are more than a few reasons that this has far greater repercussions then merely how it affects the wildlife.

First of all, no one can get the official story of how much oil is flowing into the Gulf.  From an information control and propaganda perspective, this means we are being lied to.  It's far more than they are estimating.  That's not a conspiracy theory, it's the break the bad news in slowly.  Start at 5K, work up to 50K work up to 200K, 2.5 Million and then whatever it actually is. The immensity becomes so great that it numbs the reaction.  Confusion is a way to spread disinformation and generally means that everyone is lying.

Second, this oil spill effectively means that Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida and perhaps some of the east coast is effectively economically and environmentally destroyed.  If this isn't obvious yet, it will be in about two months, I think.

Third, food is a problem.  Meat prices are already going to be higher because of the increased use of agricultural land for Ethanol prices.  The oil spill effectively destroys the Gulf seafood industry. The major hit to the food supplies will only push protein prices higher.  Once food prices go up, consumer confidence goes way down.  Consumer spending goes way down,  and the dominos start to fall.  Although in this case, losing whole industries probably means it's not a domino falling but someone setting off a load of TNT to an already extremely weak economy.

Fourth, Oops Toxic Soup does kill life.  Who would have thought?

Crops in the Gulf area in neighboring states to the spill have reported that the rains are leaving a white substance and just about everything it touches is dying.  Paranoia? Maybe, except for the dispersant they initially used can phase shift while in water to become airborne.  Thanks, BP.  Do a search on the internet, it doesn't look good.  Of course, that's not getting reported mainstream. However, this does precipitate further food problems (see where this is going).

Fifth, I cannot possibly see how BP will remain intact.  That's 1/6 of the UK economy.  Losing 1/6 of your economy probably means the UK is tethering on that same brink Greece is.  Think about it this way, all of our economies are already extremely weak.  Can any of the western countries absorb this shock.   The fact it hasn't happened, I believe is directly due to multiple government interventions and pulling behind the scenes moves.  This economic fallout will pretty well, given the recent mortgage issues, take out most of the western world economically.

Sixth.  $6 bucks a gallon for gas.  I don't think it's impossible and it would effectively destroy our transportation infrastructure.

The Worst Cast Senarios are Even Worse the what we can imagine.

Hurricane in the Gulf?  This is a very probable event, now that we are in hurricane season.  Given what the farmers are seeing out in the South as far as toxicity, we are talking about the potential for massive destruction of multiple states.

One theory states that the actual Gulf crust has so many cracks that this oil leak will not stop even with a relief well.  If this is correct, there is no stopping this. Unending oil flowing into the Gulf Stream.  Oops, a mostly dead Atlantic in the worst case scenario.  Funny that the oil flows right back to the UK where BP is headquartered.  Even the pictures now, show the oil starting to embrace Florida in its grasp.  So that means we can expect North Carolina and other Eastern States to suffer even in the not quite so worst case.

Further Unverified Extrapolations.

Think about it- if economies start collapsing, given the interconnected global economies and contention for resources, there is another worst case scenario to consider.  World War.  Wars are always economic.  If we cannot pay China back, China might very well foreclose on its debt here if there is no way for us to pay it back.  Russia, when you really dig, still has enormous hostility towards us, and clearly the Middle East is a powder keg that's only getting worse.  That stage has been set for a while.

Police states.  This is already happening- in the US at least.  Miranda rights just got weakened by the Supreme Court.  The Patriot Act has not been repealed.   Really, we are already losing our freedom in the US.  It's actually needed, at least in the eyes of those in power, since hungry people tend to be really hard to control and that's where we are probably headed.

Now, that said, there are a few things that you can do as a shaman/magician/witch.  No I do not think you can instantly fix the oil spill with a nose twitch.

First, results orientated magic is about to become really important.  The comfortable easy life is about to end for most of us.  Results may mean the survival difference, as it did in shamanic days.  Think about it- it seems paranoid, but if people cannot afford food because of shortages which is probable in the situation I raised above, all bets are off.  Start practicing.

Your mental clarity might well be the difference.  I cannot see either the economy or the situation on the ground getting better.  Figure out what's important. Let the rest slide.  This might mean working magic to help and working on the ground to get systems of barter set up now, removing as much as you can from the financial system.  That, of course, means you have to have a useful skill to barter with in a post information age.  If not, develop one.  It can be a good hobby.

Stock up on rice and water.  Invest in some sort of water purification system. Protein is also a real problem and I don't really have a solution in a city. I'd tell you learn to hunt or fish but we already kind screwed the fishing thing.  This is standard advice.  I do not know what can be done about the toxic rain in the South.

Get your divination sets ready and follow your intuitions.   We are not at the point where city life becomes impossible, but with the potential massive food shortages that I was implying, it's probably a matter of when.  I make no predictions there.  There are of course, technological solutions that probably can help this and it really depends whether we employ them.  If things start to degrade, and the government supports corporate interests more as opposed to the people, it's going to get real ugly on the streets.  That means there should be a written and agreed upon EXIT strategy, and a meeting point in the wilderness in groups.   Aeonic magic probably has a focus point at getting politicians or government to actually forcefully employ some of those green technologies/food technologies.  It's not going to be pretty, but it will probably work.  I do not for a minute think that industry will move on this.  It's simply not profitable and when it would be profitable, it's probably too late.  Use the Divination sets to really grok the 'when' to get out.  I am not quite ready to sound the alarm bells as in get out now, but it could switch over with one more incident.

I have always said that community consists of those people who visit you in the hospital.  It's time to put the platitudes and the bickering aside and really build smaller, functional communities.  The Internet is a blessing and a curse with this.  It allows people of similar interests to tribe up, but allows for the mistaken notion that you need no 'in person' time and makes it harder for people to get along with differences .  Sorry, but we will need real, and potentially smaller communities ( 10 people would be a sufficient village per se).  It may, at some point, not matter who shows up at your event- it will matter who honestly helps one another survive in the worst case.  Real community might mean getting to the trust level of:

  •      Land Sharing
  •     Food co-production in urban or shared community gardens
  •      Mutual protection and companionship
  •      Mutual sick, elderly and child care
  • Using old style stories and community gatherings instead of TV and internet entertainment.  Entertainment becomes, once again, community produced and community developed.  Get rid of the poisons of the mind.

These are hard metrics, but realistic ones if food becomes more scarce.

That means putting aside all of the ego games currently common in the "communities".  If you think at this point that we have no bigger fish to fry... well then you don't believe what I have said above at all and wish you the best of luck in the event that I am right with these speculations.

Did I mention banishing?  Everyone needs to keep control over their own heads and emotional state.  There is a collective numbness in the US about what the oil spill means.  Let yourself feel the pain. Really, it will motivate you.  Think about that, decide what you need to do... and then continuously banish to clear out the emotional toxins.  As the situation worsens, the distractions and emotional toxicity of our current media culture will become worse.  Banishing and mental control all the time.  It's harder said than done.

Find your emotional weak points now and start working on them.  Healing is a practical thing- it allows you to flourish in situations that would otherwise crack a person.  The pressure is building.

In practice, as I said, I cover most of the 'how to' of finding your emotional weak points and self transformation from a non-dogmatic viewpoint in 'Hands On Chaos Magic'.  While my book actually is good to get you rolling on magic, the important thing is that you start doing now.  You will need the focus and emotional stability that really working magic can bring.  That's a helpful thing to have, even if I am wrong.
