Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

I have been practicing with energy excercises for some time now and have a comfortable time feeling the form between my hands, molding it, and directing it by force of my will. However, I have had trouble differentiating internal energies, that which are my own, from outer, enviornmental energies. The persistant feeling that I am unintentionally drawing external energy has made it seem more difficult to taint it with emotions or mindsets, becoming a troublesome speed-bump in my personal magical evolution. Are there any ways to characterize these apart from one another, and work with one or the other individually (or train the mind to feel so)?

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

... Personally I find other means of gathering that extra push to be far more effective for me... Things like specific material bases, deeper trance states- especially from extensive excitory gnosis...

The wand will increase its resonance/energy with the more work you do with it. I mean- you can always do that- push energy into it- but I'd argue what is the point? Seems alot of extra work for not alot of payoff... ;)

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

Intriguing. I had initially been pumping energy into the wand, sort of using (or attempting to use) it as a reservoir for rituals that would take that extra push. What you said about allowing the actual work the tool participates in to empower it makes a lot of sense. Maybe it would be better to use another object as a reservoir and keep the wand reserved to a purely catalytic purpose with energy in spells? Again, thanks for your answers.

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

I wouldn't so much phrase it as using the energy leftovers 'for' a habitual banishing- more that you are banishing those energy leftovers- or more specifically those energy leftovers that you don't choose to maintain. (Aka- negativity, anxiety, stress- whatever energy you don't care to hang onto.)

Honestly- for a magical tool I would cleanse it, consecrate it and then just -use- it. ;)

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

Very interesting! I like the idea of using the energy left-overs from my day for a habitual banishing. I actually use my wand for most of the banishings I do, so maybe using it for that sort of work daily could make it seem more contented. And to answer your question, yes, I was dumping the energy into my wand to empower it, but I hadn't thought of the negativity that could carry over, too. That actually would make a lot of sense, hah. As for your suggested charging of a particular energy, what would be recommended as a good "type" to focus on? It is a general purpose tool, so I wouldn't want anything to specific, but that sounds like a good practice to adopt. Thanks for your insight.

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

Well, a few questions... What do you typically use your wand for apart from dumping energy into? Why do you dump energy into a magical tool rather than banishing? Are you trying to use that energy for some purpose? If you've dumped energy leftover from your day into your wand and are feeling icky from it- it would seem that you've been having some rough times and have had some residual energy of the nature that you've described (anxiety/panicky etc.) Unless you're not like most people and you have nice tranquil positive energy left over in abundance after your day ;)

If you want to dump leftover energy into something- a good idea would be to try a crystal or a bottle. Or just do a good nightly banishing. :) If you're wanting to infuse the wand with energy- you might try focusing on a particular sort of energy rather than just leftover personal energies.. :)

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

Thanks very much for responding. Your insight was helpful. I actually presented the question because I had a troubling experience regarding that sort of energy work. Without going too far down the rabbit hole, the gist is that usually before I go to bed every night, I push whatever "energy" I have left in myself into my wand, one of my tools with which I've forged the closest relationship with. A few days ago I picked it up in preparation for a little work and I got an intense feeling of alarm, almost like the precursor mindset of a panic attack. Although I can handle the tool now find, it really worries me why that would happen; after all, it is supposed to be like an extension of myself. I thought I may have pushed some external, harmful energy into it accidentally, and am worried if I unwittingly caused the emotional turbulence in the wand, or if it could happen again. A thought that came to my was maybe to put a benevolent "tint" into the energy, rather than just dumping raw, un-worked energy into my tool. I will try the exercises you put forth, and hopefully they will help. Thanks again,

Re: Questions Regarding Energy Excercises

Hello Punarbhava,

What exactly is the intent of the energy work? You say that you have no trouble directing it by force of your will. but for what purpose. I use a similar technique for evocation yet I utilize a few other gnostic techniques along with the energy work.

I have always translated what type of energy I am working with my means of developing an unconscious awareness of it. I would suggest spend a little time analyzing energies and seeing what type of response they cause you to feel. This can be illustrated by saying a demonic force makes you feel depressed or threatened depending on the spirit and a different type of force like an angelic makes you feel confident and altruistic. It will take time to develop this ability. I was extremely empathic as a teenager so I was forced to develop this ability because of that.

Another good exercise is to create specific types of energy yourself. sit down and create healing energy, then create harmful energy and compare the two. How do each make you feel. There is a lot of potential for creating ritual atmosphere with this type of work. I used to practice creating atmospheres as rituals, to me, doing this is like taking the energy work to the next level.

Energy work is generally a precursor to whatever type of magic one finds himself doing such as healing, enchantment, charging sigils, evocation, etc... The beauty with energy work is that it is a model of magic and can be made use of as such. A little imagination is all you need to succeed with magick. Dream up a little course for yourself to develop these abilities further and see where you find yourself. There are no rules. Just like you Nietzsche quote, Reality is a mutable phenomenon, change it as you will.

Thanks,
Anomaly
